The Microsoft Audio/Video Interleaved (AVI) file format is a RIFF file specification used with applications that capture, edit, and playback audio/video sequences. In general, AVI files contain multiple streams of different types of data. Most AVI sequences will use both audio and video streams. A simple variation for an AVI sequence uses audio data and does not require an video stream.
The resulted AVI of ACA Audio Recorder contains only one audio stream. Use this format if cross-platform editing is a concern
MPEG Audio Layer III(MP3), an audio compression technology that is part of the MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 specifications. MP3 uses perceptual audio coding to compress CD-quality sound by a factor of 12, while providing almost the same fidelity.
ACA Audio Recorder uses Lame MP3 Encoder to complete the MP3 audio compression.
WAVE File Format is a file format for storing digital audio (waveform) data. It supports a variety of bit resolutions, sample rates, and channels of audio.
WAVE format supports the uncompressed format, and thus offers the best quality.
