How to disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration

As a best security practice, a server administrator should not browse Internet Web sites from the server, so Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration(IE ESC) is enabled on Windows Server 2003/2008 by normal.

Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration established a configuration for your server and for Microsoft Internet Explorer that decreases the exposure of your server to potential attacks that can occur through Web content and application scripts. As a result, some Web sites may not display or perform as expected [1].

For Windows 7/Vista/2008/2003/XP/2000

ACA WebThumb ActiveX is a HTML to Image developer SDK for Windows platform, it uses Internet Explorer as the HTML rendering engine. Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration disables the Javascript and ActiveX features by normally. If you want to includes the Javascript and ActiveX contents in your web snapshot that converted by ACA WebThumb ActiveX, you should turn off Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration on your Windows Server 2003/2008. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Open Control Panel, click Add/Remove Programs, then click Add/Remove Windows Components.
  2. Select Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration, and then uncheck it:

  4. Click Next, and then click Finish.

  1. Start Server Manager on Windows Server 2008.
  2. Click on the root folder in Server Manager, then scroll down to the Security Information Section and click Configure IE ESC.
  3. Turn off IE ESC for Administrators and/or for users.
